Pilar: Pilar Speranza-Weigel, is a bilingual graphic designer who in 2015 decided to change paths and see what was out there in the world of cyber security. This journey has led Pilar to become the Chief of Staff at Hold Security, LLC where she leads by example by delivering positive leadership and providing tutoring and consistent feedback to help empower and harness employees’ best skills and talents. Technology is not easy, especially hacker technology, but she navigates through this world with positivity, kindness and an acute eagerness to bring more attention to the endless possibilities, talent and expertise that women especially can bring into this field. Pilar holds a Fine Arts Bachelor’s degree and a Spanish Literature degree from UWM.

Yuliana: Yuliana combines in her experience from several different fields making her an invaluable asset as a Cyber Intelligence Analyst at Hold Security. As a Dark Web expert, she goes out in a fray where not many professionals dare to enter, handling the most notorious hackers with technical and psychological skills. Bringing innovation to cyber security is her passion. Yuliana holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from her home country of Ukraine and a Marketing bachelor’s degree from UWM.

Over time dating scams have claimed many victims, becoming an immense industry that uses psychological approaches, photographers, graphic designers, call centers, extortion and blackmail, as well as human trafficking. These scams have been around for many years, and they continue to grow and evolve, and the hackers have become much more elaborate and sophisticated with their methodologies, making them even more profitable than ever. We will dissect this dark business and identify its patterns and vulnerabilities, as well as bring awareness to a topic that is not often discussed.
