Meet your host: Kyle Puckhaber

Kyle has a wide background from mitigating cyber-security threats, business to politics, and everything in between. He loves navigating through chaos to find customized solutions to problems. He is the CFO for the cyber-security startup Deeplight Systems. He is a philosopher at heart. As a contrarian, he questions conventional wisdom and experiments with alternative approaches to traditional problems. He enjoys travelling, the outdoors, and finding wisdom in travelers and nature. The first podcast he hosted is called Seeking Truth, which is an effort to find truth through the dialectic process.

Episode 0 – What is CypherCon? – 3/3/2019 – “The Creator of CypherCon, Michael Goetzman and I have a conversation about what CypherCon is, what it means to be a hacker, and what one can expect at CypherCon. We talk about the CypherCon villages – lock picking and safe cracking, Internet of Things, wireless hacking, virtual reality, social engineering, and hacking for rookies.”

Episode 1 – Hunter Gatherer Hacker – 3/10/2019 – “Kyle talks with Nick Werzel about creative ways to answer the question, what should I eat today? Nick has always been interested in hiking in the woods and identifying plants and now ⅓ of his diet is made up of plants he finds in nature. In our conversation, we talk about fungi, berries, roots, making wine, preservation techniques, cultivating your own wild crops, and how to survive an apocalypse in the event an APT takes down our energy and communication systems.”

Episode 2 – Radio Frequency Hacking and Math of the Universe – 3/17/2019 – “Caleb Madrigal and I discuss radio frequency hacking, monitor the transmission signal to unlock my car, Tracker Jacker which tracks Internet of Things (IoT) devices searching for wireless signals, the math of the universe, surrealism and science fiction, and the nature of God. A fascinating conversation with a fascinating human – there’s something in it for everyone.”

Episode 3 – Guiding Kidz to Use the Hacker Mindset – 3/24/2019 – Dave Schwartzberg and I have an incredible conversation about kids and how to support them in their hacking endeavors in security and technology. We talk about his project Hak4Kidz where he introduces kids to everything hacker. We talk about technology taught in the school system, his thoughts on introducing hacking to STEM to make it STEHM (the H is silent), and how innovative people from history hacked their way to make the technology we have today. So it’s really important to support initiatives like Hak4Kidz to encourage kids to hack their way into the future.

Episode 4 – Creating Koyns – 3/27/3019 – Brian Van Stedum joins me on this episode to talk about his process around creating CypherCon coins, why he was inspired to volunteer his time to make them and participate in the CypherCon community, and what drives him. You can find him @KoynArtist on Twitter.

Episode 5 – Pick Your Lock – 4/3/2019 – On this episode I am joined by Doug Rogahn, who runs the Lock picking and Safe cracking village at CypherCon. In this episode, you’ll learn all the elements of lock picking, how Doug got into this hobby, and what you can expect at the Lock picking and Safe cracking Village at CypherCon.

Episode 6 – Cypher Village – 4/10/2019 – In this episode, we welcome Dave Schwartzberg back to the podcast to talk about Cipher Village. If you are listening to this prior to CypherCon 2019, listen carefully as there are hints that will help you out for the Con. We talk everything Cipher Village and learn about the process to make the CypherCon inspired game, Phreaker Life.

Episode 7 – Seeking Truth – 4/17/2019 – Richard Thieme joins me for an incredible conversation about the unquenchable thirst for truth. We talk about research topics that are taboo, the spy state, and the importance of the hacker community to support one another as we create a better world.
