DigiMarSec: Digital Marketing Security
The enemy of Digital Marketing is friction and IT Security creates lots of friction. Marketers are not just fighting their own IT Departments, they’re fighting all of them! In this talk, Joe Cicero, Sr. Security Engineer, will discuss “Friction Red Flags” that Marketers unknowingly create and that he sees every day. If you are in IT Security and you deal with your Marketing department, this talk will help you develop a checklist to have more friction-less digital materials.

Joe Cicero is currently a Senior Security Engineer. He was originally from Green Bay and in 1985 he joined the Marines. His final duty assignment was as the Operations Chief for Special Operations Training Group, Tactical Warfare Simulations Evaluations Analysis Systems where he traveled the world conducting officer training through use of computer simulations.
Joe has had positions covering every aspect of computers including: Help Desk Support, Technician, Programmer, Columnist, Network Administrator, Director of Technology, Computer Security and Incident Response Team Member, Defense Forensic Examiner, Instructor and Senior Security Engineer. He is passionate about security, privacy and forensics and enjoys “tinkering” with all types of technology.
Joe has spoken within Wisconsin and nationally at Defcon, HOPE, UAT, THOTCON, CypherCon and WACCI. In 2009 Joe was the recipient of the Information Technology Outstanding Service Award for the state of Wisconsin. In 2013 Joe advised the NWTC team which went on to win the Wisconsin Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (CCDC).
In 2018 Joe left education to work in healthcare as a Senior Security Engineer where he specializes in workforce phishing training, computer forensics, vulnerability assessment and remediation, and monitoring the network for security issues.
