Govern All The Things!

R. Nick Mullen

Abstract:

What is governance? We talk about it all the time, but if someone asked you what governance really means, what it does, and why its important…what would you say?
In this session, we’re going to break down some of the basics of IT governance and why its important for the entire organization, not just in information security. We’ll also discuss how governance intersects with risk and compliance, along with actionable advice on maturing governance practices within your organization.

Importance: Governance is one of the foundational aspects of any good security program, and is oftentimes poorly understood even within security. This talk will help provide the audience with some basics of governance and help them understand how it can benefit their organization, inside and outside of security.
